CQB Hell Survive CQB Tactics

Surviving CQB Hell is less about flashy flicks and more about denying the AI free angles. This guide focuses on close-quarters survival: how to enter rooms, how to leave fights you are losing, and how to keep medkits meaningful until the map demands a boss attempt. Read it after Getting Started and How to Play, then apply the habits inside Map Clearing.

The survival contract

Every doorway is a contract. You agree to expose some of your hitbox in exchange for information and shots. Aggressive AI in CQB Hell often takes that contract seriously—pushing, swinging, or flooding the frame when you linger. Your job is to make peeks short, reloads safe, and heals intentional.

Rules that keep you alive:

  1. Clear the fatal funnel before you commit your body.
  2. Reload behind real cover, not on the threshold.
  3. Heal after you break line of sight, not while staring down a rush.
  4. Spend grenades to buy space, not to celebrate a kill you already have.
  5. Leave ego challenges for the Shooting Range PVP lane.

Doorway and corner grammar

Wide swings feel powerful and die loudly. Prefer slicing the pie: expose only what you must, pre-aim where a rusher’s torso will appear, and be ready to reverse out. If audio suggests multiple hostiles stacked on a door, soft the room with a grenade or choose another entry. Random maps still obey the same grammar even when furniture changes.

Corners hide depth. Assume a second enemy sits deeper than the first silhouette. After a pick, do not instantly wide-swing the reward—reset your angle, check the complementary corner, then advance. This patience is what later lets you solo bosses with slower tools like the Musket; see Solo Bosses with Musket.

Fighting aggressive AI

Aggressive does not mean omniscient. It means the AI will punish stillness in bad places and punish reloads in public. Counter with movement that has a purpose: jiggle for info, hard commit only when your gun is ready, and rotate through secondary exits when a doorway becomes a blender.

If you favor D-44 Carbine style mid-fight control, keep bursts tied to cover transitions. If you favor G19B style close work, never stand still after a kill—slide to the next micro-cover. Musket survivors live by the clock in their head: shot, displace, reload, re-challenge.

Medkits and grenades under pressure

Medkits are not a personality trait. They are a budget for the whole session, especially if Bosses or Allik Boss are on your route. Heal when you have broken contact and can re-enter on your terms. Healing in the open teaches the AI that greed works.

Grenades create temporary ownership of a volume. Use them when:

  • Audio stacks on a single room
  • You must cross a fatal funnel
  • You need a stun window to plant for a precision shot

Do not nade every empty hallway. Scarcity is part of survival.

Sound, light, and composure

Muzzle flashes and intense effects are part of CQB Hell’s presentation—take breaks if needed. Sound still matters: footsteps, gunfire depth, and sudden silence before a push. Composure is a mechanic. Panic spraying empties the magazine that would have covered your retreat.

Platform survival notes

PC players can micro-adjust peeks; do not confuse that with permission to overexpose. Xbox players should make heal and grenade inputs automatic under stress. Mobile players should shorten peek windows further and lean on the advice in Mobile Tips.

Drill plan

  1. Play one session where your only goal is zero doorway reloads.
  2. Play one session where you heal only after breaking sight.
  3. Spend ten minutes on the range practicing exit-to-cover after every mag dump.
  4. Review Map Clearing and run a slow full clear.
  5. Only then attempt a boss page from the Guides Hub.

Survival is the skill that makes every other guide work. Without it, boss plans and fancy loadouts are just longer death cams.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common CQB Hell questions.

Why do I keep dying in doorways?

You are probably reloading or healing on the threshold. Break contact, reset behind cover, then re-challenge.

Should I always throw grenades first?

No. Save grenades for stacked rooms, bad funnels, or needed entry windows.

How does aggressive AI change my peeks?

Keep peeks short and be ready to reverse out. Lingering invites pushes.

When should I use a medkit?

After you break line of sight and before the next planned entry—especially if a boss is still ahead.

What should I practice on the range for survival?

Exit-to-cover after shooting, heal timing, and calm re-peeks under PVP pressure.
